This End Table came as a need for our new home. My wife wanted something that could slide under the couch, and I wanted to make something.

Chelsea's Table was the first thing I made. I have always been fond of the way black walnut looked as furniture. I like the dark contrast to our white carpet, but more than that is the grain texture walnut has. Having an end table lends to the top of the table to be more of a show case's the grain of the wood when its not in use.

Trying to not intrude on the top too much, I went with a simple mortise and tenon to attach the top to the neck. Keeping the design simple and repeatable, I kept to the mortise and tenon joint through out the table. I also rounded the edges on almost every corner. Since this table is going to be moved and slid around, I wanted the touch of the corners and edges to be comfortable to the hand.

I've made a few more of these table and have sold them online. I have currently stopped due to shipping issues. A fun fact about that, marking on your package that its "fragile", doesn't mean anything. The mail courier will throw it around like its a basketball any ways.
